Grand Light begins restoration on Dakota Middle School Theater

Rapid City, SD - Grand Light has been contracted to restore 40 lighting fixtures for Dakota Middle School's historic theater in Rapid City South Dakota.

Dakota Middle School was originally Rapid City High School, and was built in 1923. It was the only public high school in the city until 1969. The building was nominated for the National Register for its significance in the areas of education, social history and architecture.

The fixtures being restored include 11 ceiling lights, 15 pendant lights, and 14 sconces.

Shown are the containers received by Grand Light from the electrical contractor. These custom crates were built to accommodate the fixtures for Dakota Middle School ensuring safe shipment.

These fixtures were shipped via Freight Carrier whom has the capabilities to deliver using air ride suspension, as a means of extra protection for the safe arrivals of the fixtures.

The ceiling lights above will be cleaned and restored. The sconces will be cleaned, repaired, and rewired as needed.
